💡Founder Spotlight: Abdi & MeetMore
What's MeetMore all about?
We’re building an AI wingman that wins new business for estate agents.
Despite it being 2024, real estate agents still can’t reach homeowners online, they rely almost entirely on the letterbox. And because they know almost nothing about the homeowners, the letters they put through the letterbox read like spam. We’re hoping to solve both problems by helping agents send relevant outreach to homeowners via social media DMs.
We launched our product in September and we've had a 15% weekly growth rate.
What’s the problem that MeetMore is solving?
There's AI-SDR's, AI-Event Planners, a co-pilot for this, a co-pilot for that. People are realising that agentic capabilities of AI enable automation of an entire bucket of tasks. But, in real estate, almost all start-ups we've seen take a piecemeal approach to automation where it's still about increasing productivity by the magic 30%.
We don't think you can automate an estate agent because you need a person to guide you through the biggest transaction of your life, but we do think you can build something that approximates very closely to their assistants – i.e. does all the digital grunt work and in each bucket of tasks escalates at point of value. We're starting with lead generation as it's the key bottleneck but we're looking forward to moving down the value chain.
How did you get here, and where did the idea inspiration come from?
As mentioned above, for various reasons we decided to explore building an AI Agent within real estate. We were also excited by all the developments in AI Voice and wondered if it may have an application for real estate agents. Typically starting with a solution would be a bad move, but given how large the surface area of voice is, we thought we could get away with it.
We did a bit of research and spoke to a bunch of estate agents and we discovered that they spend at least 2 hours a day handling calls from buyer / tenant leads. So we cobbled together a V1 call handler using a mix of LLMs, text to speech and voice synthesizers. Some agents liked it but we quickly discovered this wasn’t the kind of wedge, you could use to build an AI agent because it was in the middle of the transaction cycle so you’d just become a plugin in their CRM. We decided then to go to the start of the transaction cycle where we discovered all the problems agents were having with prospecting leading us to our current idea.
How did you make the decision to take the leap & found?
In 2019, I took a year out of University to work on a start-up. It failed but I learnt a ton and I loved the agency and potential for impact that founding offered. I wanted to found again almost instantly but I had no cash in the bank and didn’t really like the idea of having to rely on someone else for the most minor of changes to a product. By early 2023, I had achieved my goals in becoming technically strong and having enough cash to cover me for a while and fortunately my co-founder Dafydd, who I kept in touch with over the years, was also thinking of founding. It became an easy decision to quit and begin working together.
How can the Embarc community help you?
We just began our pre-seed fundraise, so any intros to active angels and VC’s would be highly appreciated!
How can you help Embarc community members?
The best way I can contribute would be....
To share my experience so far, always happy to chat
If you're an engineer evaluating infra decisions for your AI product, I now know quite a bit about the landscape of tools out there that are actually worthwhile and will know a bit more in a couple weeks as we move our on the fly RLHF to a platform. No guarantee but maybe I can help point to useful ones!
I recommend Jason Cohen's blog (founder of 2 unicorns) - A Smart Bear. It's pretty good stuff.
